Thank you for taking time to visit They Call Me Mommy.

I'm Kaytlynn, and I'm a mom. I have given birth to two little ones, and I have had the privilege of fostering several. I am not a perfect parent. I don't know everything there is to know about parenting or foster care or adoption. But I do know one thing. It is an adventure. An adventure that scales glorious mountains and climbs down into dark valleys.

As my sister-in-law aptly puts it, “a roller-coaster of grace.”

I hope to use this blog to chronicle our voyages through this way of life. I’d like to share our stories with you. I’d love you to see the little faces and hearts through the writing to come. I plan to let you hear the stories of others who have walked this path. I pray that you’ll be able to rejoice in some happy times. And as much as I dread it, I predict that there will be times you’ll share in our grief.

As you join in our journey, I hope our experiences can help you see foster care in a new way.

As a normal way.

That maybe you’ll walk away with new ideas for how to pray for foster parents and their charges, for how to encourage and help them, for how to support them. And maybe, just maybe, after seeing foster families in a new light, you will sense God’s call on your family to open your hearts and homes to God’s very special, very loved, little (and maybe not so little) people.

"Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you." - James 1:27
